My work is shaped by a deep interest in what helps people feel more fully themselves. Through co-counselling, Transactional Analysis, journalling, visualising, and my own lived process of change, I came to understand that portraiture is more than image-making. It is a lived experience of recognition, presence, and self-trust.
As a young child, admiring the images of my mother as a beautiful stage actress in the UK - and then showing her my images taken of her that show at 80 or 90 years young she is just as beautiful - more so - than ever is testimony of the power of professional portraiture.
At Lumenova® Studio, the goal is not simply to create beautiful photographs, but to create the conditions in which self-consciousness can soften, confidence can rise more naturally, and something more grounded, alive, and true can emerge.
Lumenova® is shaped by two ideas: light and discovery.
Light shapes the portrait visually, but it also points to something deeper — the moment a person begins to see themselves more clearly. Light itself is life - a transforming agent as any artist knows.
The Lumenova® approach is not only about the final image, but about the lived experience between photographer and client. Through guidance, presence, and a held space, what first feels unfamiliar can begin to feel real. The portraits are the visible result of that process, but the experience often continues afterwards as a more embodied sense of confidence, presence, and self-recognition.

My work is influenced by editorial, fashion and commercial portraiture- thoughtful use of light, and the quiet power of how a person carries themselves when they feel fully at ease. Just as important are the deeper influences behind the images: co-counselling, Transactional Analysis, journalling, visualising, and Brené Brown’s work on strength thorugh vulnerability (authenticity) and the softening of old shields.
I’m drawn to portraits that feel refined and expressive, yet still deeply human — images with atmosphere, shape, and intention, but also warmth, spontaneity, and emotional truth. What continues to inspire me most is the moment someone sees a portrait and recognises something real in it. And often this something has the quality of being confident, strong and exquisitely gorgeous in a very personal way!
